Citrus County was created in 1887. It was named for the county's citrus trees. Now under construction the new 2 mile section of the Suncoast parkway will allow residents of Amber Ridge to access the new interchange to open in 2026 allowing for a 1 hour commute to Tampa and the International airport. RICH IN HISTORY

Crystal Ridge in located in Lecanto/Crystal River Florida at Rock Crusher Canyon and has had a long rich history. Its early days date back to the 1920’s. The limestone mine flourished from the 1930’s till the 1960’s. The nearby elementary school was actually built on the site of a corporate schoolhouse, established for the education of the mine workers’ children.

The GTE earth satellite station in the rock pit, was built in the 1970s and dwarfed vehicles and people with its size. There is a natural amphitheater that has been used for various events such as concerts, festivals, and weddings. The venue features a large pavilion, which can accommodate up to 3,000 people, as well as several smaller meeting rooms. In the past, it has been used for events such as the Citrus County Fair and the Rock Crusher Canyon Bluegrass Festival. The venue is also known for hosting a number of country music performers.
