Study Florida Economic Advisors prepared an analysis which reviews the economic and fiscal impacts from the development of Ashton Park, a mixed-use master-planned community in the City of Palm Bay (Brevard County), Florida.

Founded in March 14, 1844, Brevard County, the nation’s gateway to space, is located on the east coast of central Florida and has a population of approximately 600,000 residents. The county stretches 72 miles from north to south and is home to 17 municipalities as well as the Kennedy Space Center and Patrick Space Force Base.

Less than 20 minutes from some of Florida amazing east coast beaches, Ashton Park in the final approval process with the city of Palm Bay. Expected construction start date third quarter 2024. Ashton Park is located in Brevard County. Ashton Park residential community is a 1,400 + acre planned urban development in Brevard County. The property is mostly cleared and will include, 3,793 single family residential permitted units, 945 townhomes, 746 + apartment units, 5.4 + million sf of commercial /retail and flex space.
PARKS AND RECREATION
Brevard County, Florida has a variety of parks and recreational opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy and include 117 parks, 3 campgrounds, 3 nature centers, 3 education centers, 78 beach access sites, 10 school athletic sites, and more than 16,500 managed acres of Environmentally Endangered Land sanctuaries and conservation areas. Some of the notable parks in the area include:
• The Micco Scrub Sanctuary protects 1322 acres of Brevard’s remaining scrubby flatwoods and mesic flatwoods habitat. This mosaic of seasonal marshes and dry flatwoods shelters many indigenous species of plants and animals that cannot be found anywhere else in the county. The long trails running through the Micco Scrub Sanctuary give hikers many chances to spot wildlife.
• Space View Park is located less than 15 miles directly across the Indian River from the launch pads of the Canaveral Spaceport. The Park is the first and only walk in the nation that honors America's astronauts as well as the men and women behind the scenes who helped America lead the world in space exploration. Located 5 miles North from Hwy 50 off of US1 on Broad Street on HWY 406 (Garden Street) off of Indian River Avenue.
• Samsons Island Park is located on a 52 acre island in the Banana River, in the City of Satellite Beach, Florida. The Banana River is part of the Indian River Lagoon (IRL) Estuary system. The IRL is the longest saltwater lagoon in Florida, comprising more than a third of the state’s east coast. It has been called “the most diverse estuary in North American” and has been designated as “an Estuary of National Significance”.
